It’s a little late in the New Year, but let’s pretend I’m using the Government Fiscal Year. So you’re planning for the new year and stuck on a few things to measure to get more insight try a few of these. I’m sure you have the basics – turnover, goals met, employee engagement etc. but how about finding a place for these:
- Positive Feedback Ratio: Optimum interactions have a ratio of 5:1 positive to critical feedback. When adding measures to your performance management plan have managers focus on the ratio of feedback types. Even in written feedback forms, take a random survey of performance contracts to see how the feedback is stacked. Not a metrics worth serious tracking, but a quick way to see the quality and type of feedback being provided to employees.
- Employee Productivity: Revenues / People Costs. This ratio is a great way to see if your investment in people is working, such as centralizing training
- Likes per Million: Likes / $ Millions of Revenue. This is a measure from Strategy+Business and is a great way to see how a companies revenues (or better, spending on marketing) results in social media brand.
If anything, these are to help motivate you to think outside the box from your regular metrics. So, give it a shot and let me know in the comments of any new metrics you’ve started using.
